Sports commentator, Winston McCarthy, making his final rugby broadcast at Athletic Park, Wellington, New Zealand. Photographed by an Evening Post staff photographer on the 27th of April 1957.
Although this was meant to be his last sports broadcast, he was asked by Broadcasting Service to come back in 1959 to commentate on some of the major games of the Lions tour. He later commentated alternate Saturdays at Athletic Park, Wellington. (From 'Listen...It's a goal' by Winston McCarthy. Pelham Books, 1973)
