Lord Ranfurly and party at a kainga where they ate lunch, shortly after leaving the forest on the journey along the Huia-rau Trail from Waikaremoana to Ruatoki. Second from left (with white moustache) is Gilbert Mair. Lord Ranfurly is immediately to his right on the grey pony in the foreground. Left of centre (smoking a pipe) is Dudley Alexander.
