Shows the coastline from Kakanui to Moeraki, drawn with south at the top. Identifies features, left to right: Pukemata, Kutumaka, Waiwerowero, te Kuri, Te Kakaho, Bluff, Waianakarua, Otepo Pa, Orari, Kakaunui. Bay at left named Onekaka. List of three other names is featured but there are no corresponding numbers on the map.
Along the top is a buff-coloured loop of canvas, stitched to the album cover, for holding a pencil
From the sketchbook kept by Mantell during his journey down the South Island as Commissioner for the Extinguishment of Native Titles.
