The letter was written from Christchurch while Warner was on tour with the English cricket team. He mentions a possible job opportunity in London when he returns. Warner had a long career as a cricketer for Middlesex and England. After his retirement as a player he was a prominent cricket official - and was manager of the English team during the infamous 'bodyline' tour of Australia in 1932-1933. He was knighted in 1937.
