- Description
The Wainimala River. Shingle river beach in the foreground. Beside this are three canoes, the central one of which has a thatched canopy covering a travelling couch of cusions. Fijian men holding poles are posed standing on the canoes. To the left one European man with a gun sits on the edge of the central canoe and another stands near him at the edge of the shingle beach. A Fijian man stands on the edge of the beach to the right holding ducks that have been shot. On the far side of the river behind the canoes is the village of Navuniyasi built on the top of the bank. Bananas and other palms are planted among the houses. Beyond the village is mountainous country covered in forest.
