The framing of No 37, an N class steam locomotive, 2-6-2 type in the Petone Railway Workshops. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber.

N class NZR 37, was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia, went into service in December 1885, and was written off in November 1926. Tje N class locomotives were used in the South Island, but were transferred to the North Island between 1898 and 1902 to work the accelerated Napier mail trains.
