New Zealand soldiers of the Otago Battalion eating sausage rolls. Taken in Selle, France in 1917 by Henry Armytage Sanders.
Transcribed from back of file print: " Hot meat pies in the Trenches" The cost of these gifts which are much appreciated has only been possible through the generosity of the people of Otago and Southland in subscribing to the Otago Patriotic League. Daily supplies of sausage rolls, meat pies etc have been issued to men of an Otago regiment in France and in every action in which the Regiment has taken place these dainties have been rushed to men even in the foremost trenches, often under severe shelling.
