View of tents and wagons in the valley of Gabriel's Gully, the first site where gold was discovered (by Buchanan) in Otago.
There is a very similar early photograph of Gabriel's Gully in the Hocken Library. The drawing may be based on the photograph, although Buchanan did visit the area in person
