The Nairn River, Waitangi, Cahtham Island. The buildings in the view are from the left: Pomare Hall, Hood's House (later Nairn House), Ngati Mutunga house (in the foreground), Seymour's house in bend of the river with Mangape house, Piripari house (right hand side of river). Photographed by Karl Gerstenkorn between 1890 and 1895.
Seymour's house was built in 1867 by Sellwood. Mangape house was built by the missionaries, Engst and Baucke in about 1859. (Information from George Hough and Bill Carter).
