Description

A skull labelled 'syndicalism' has octopus-styke style tentacles which are strangling men and women representing 'labour', 'the home', 'mines', 'shipping', 'prosperity', 'progress' and 'capital'. Organised strike action is seen as socialist import that is crippling the economy and society.

Extended Title - New Zealand feels again the grip of the foreign monster. The above cartoon appeared in the pages of the Auckland Weekly News in May 1912, when the Waihi strike was in progress.
