Description

Bridge over small stream in the foreground, a fenced in house with a tall gable and an outbuilding, with several trees in its garden in the middle ground, Mt Taranaki in the background

See Recollections of Travel in New Zealand and Australia by J. C. Crawford, London, 1880, p. 86, where Crawford mentions visiting "the parsonage near the Waiwakaio" in the summer of 1847.

The parsonage for St Mary's was at Te Henui, some two miles away from the church. It had half an acre of land with it. Its first occupant was William Bolland, who died on 29 May 1847, presumably shortly after Crawford's visit.
