Description

A single-storey house, probably with a shingled roof and with a verandah at the front, trees in the garden on both sides. Probably shows the parsonage built by Henry Williams in 1830 out of lath and plaster with a shingled roof and demolished in the 1910s. Cf Taylor, Richard, the Parsonage House, Paihia (photocopy in photo file) and illustration opp p. 208 in Williams Henry. `The early journals of Henry Williams'. Christchurch, Pegasus, 1961. (920 WIL). The incumbent at this date was Rev Ropena Paerata - Philip Walsh himself was curate of Waimate at this date (1889).
