View looking south along the coastline at New Plymouth, with a solider standing on the beach in the right foreground. In the middle distance are the houses of New Plymouth and the fortified buildings on top of 'Mount Eliot' (The former site of the Maori pa 'Puke Ariki' in New Plymouth)
