Cadastral surveyed map of Masterton as a small farm settlement in circa 1856, eastwards of the Ruamahanga River, westwards on either side of the Waipoua River, along the Waipakako Creek, and on the northern side of the Kuripuni Creek, and east of that Creek.

Over 100 sections are surveyed showing section number, acreage, owner's name (a few are unnamed); most over 40 acres. Map also shows reserves, unnamed roads, and Masterton's centre.
