- Description
Shows a middle-aged man standing, looking towards the right, resting his left arm on a fence made of bones, possibly moa bones. He holds a telescope in the left hand, and his right hand is on his hip, holding back the right side of his high-collared coat, and revealing his waistcoat and cravat. Behind him at the left are trees and bushes.
The man is unidentified. The drawing was with a collection in America of New Zealand material relating to moa and the study of moa bones before acquisition from the vendor.
Inscription at lower right: "No page etc" may indicate that this was an illustration for a book
Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - No page etc. On verso: New Zealand Company. Both inscriptions in pencil
