Shows Prime Minister, Walter Nash, suggesting to Minister for Women and Children, Mabel Howard, that it might not be necessary to dress like this in order to meet bodgies and widgies. Mabel Howard is dressed like a widgie in jeans and t-shirt and she has a cigarette in a holder. Slouching against walls in the background are a number of young people in jeans and t-shirts who are all smoking.
Bodgies and Widgies refer to a youth subculture that existed in Australia and New Zealand in the 1950s, similar to the Teddy Boy culture in the UK or Greaser culture in the US.
