Unpublished draft article by Henry Bateson on John Caffrey and Henry Penn, who in 1886 murdered a settler, Robert Taylor, on Great Barrier Island. Apparently the article was one of a series, called `Remarkable rogues, pen pictures of notable New Zealand criminals'.
