- Description
Shows the hulk of the ship "Maori" hauled up on the beach at Pipitea Point. The ship has been dismasted and is being used for habitation, with washing hanging at the bow and attached to a rudder at the stern. There are two wicker baskets below the ship on the beach and she is held in place with boxing. A little further north of the ship are steps cut down and leading to the water. Trees can be seen on Thorndon Flat behind and to the left of the hulk and hills beyond that.
A photograph at negative 1/2-104803-F shows the hulk from the same angle, possibly in the 1920s, with sturdier boxing around its base
