New Zealand officers eating breakfast in a trench that until two days previous had been occupied by German forces. Their breakfast included New Zealand butter that had just arrived in a parcel from home. Photograph taken by Henry Armytage Sanders in France or Belgium, 1918.
Back of file print reads: `In a trench that two days before this picture was taken was occupied by Germans. Some New Zealand officers have breakfast in the open air - and enjoyed New Zealand butter just arrived in a gift parcel from home in New Zealand.'
