A scrap album containing one or two sketches by Domett, including one of Tom's whaling station at Porirua, a few lines in his writing, the beginning of a translation of a Latin poem and a pencil sketch of Miss Adeline Absolon

Toms' Porirua

Description: Sepia sketch 'Tom's Porirua' composed on the 17th January. There is no year indicated but Domett's album is dated 1835. Joseph Thoms' whaling station and hotel was located on Paremata Point, and was established by Thoms in 1835. A note in the front of the album from Francis Bett indicates that the sketch is unsigned and is possibly by Charles Heaphy [though Domett and Fox are also other possible artists]. Quantity: 1 piece.
