Hohua Ahowhenua inside the Te Wai o Turongo meeting house at Waharoa, near Matamata. Photograph taken, probably between 1880 and 1887, by Hemus & Hanna.

This portrait, according to Mona Gordon in "The golden age of Josiah Clifton Firth" (p 193), was commissioned by Josiah Clifton Firth, a long-time friend of Hohua.
