Description

New Zealand soldiers in France. They are identified as the 4th Battalion of the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, gathered in the market square of Le Quesnoy the day after the recapture of the town during World War I. The troops assembled, left to right, are: the Canterbury, Auckland, Wellington and Otago Companies. Photograph taken 5 November 1918 by Henry Armytage Sanders.

Source of descriptive information - Franck Bruyere, a citizen of Le Quesnoy, supplied the date, and the information that the time was the day after the liberation of Le Quesnoy. This information was recieved in May 2008).
