Description

Views of Akaroa, Timaru, Moeraki, Queen Charlotte Sound, Kaiwharawhara, Dunedin, with surveyors and explorers Mantell and Alfred Wills. Includes some sketches by A Wills and maps by Ngai Tahu chief, Te Wharekorari

The sketchbook kept as a record by Mantell during 1848 when he was Commissioner for the Extinguishment of Native Titles, travelling throughout the South Island, purchasing land from Ngai Tahu for the Government.
