Shows a moa wearing trousers with a silver fern on them, holding a battered lion in its beak. The lion wears trousers showing the Union Jack. The scoreboard shows a score of: NZ 829; Eng[land] 39. Probably refers to 1905 tour of Britain when 1 game was lost out of 32 played.
Exhibited in 'Guts and Glory' an exhibition of rugby cartoons, organised by the New Zealand Cartoon Archive Trust in association with the Alexander Turnbull Library, National Library of New Zealand, at the National Library Gallery, 15 July - 7 November 1999, and then touring until 2001. Curated by Susan Foster.
