Colonel Robert Logan commanded the New Zealand expeditionary force which occupied German Samoa in 1914. He became the military governor of Samoa from 1 September 1914, and was New Zealand's first administator for a short period after the war. He resigned as administrator in 1919 after the catastrophe of the flue epidemic in that country.
