Description

Collection comprises: photographs of a sketch of Mr Spain investigating land claims at New Plymouth in 1844, an engraving of Waiwhakaiho Bridge with Mount Taranaki in the background, a house amongst tree stumps on recently cleared land (possibly in the Hawke's Bay area, taken by Charles Mariboe), a sketch of landing troops at Taranaki with Maori in the foreground 1861 done by Edward Brandard, Onukukaitara Block House from Camp Waitara 1865, sketch of the residence of G Webster in New Plymouth ca 1840s; and a photograph of a gathering of Maori and Pakeha outside a marae possibly for a land meeting. Also four postcards of assemblages: Officers of the 65th Regiment; Naval and Military Officers who served in New Zealand land wars (two items) ; Officers and others who were killed during the New Zealand land wars.
