In his 'Portrait of Frances Hodgkins', Eric McCormick reproduces this picture (p.20) with a commentary from a letter by Frances' sister Isabel saying 'Poor Fan' had the idea she was too fat and had decided to 'bant' [go on a diet]. 'It is rather absurd one sister trying all she can to get stout & the other trying to get thin'
