Description

The barque 'Tancrede' at Port Chalmers, photographed by David Alexander De Maus between 1872 and 1889. No ship named 'Tancrede' was found in the reference sources, but she is possibly the Norwegian ship 'Tancred'. In Lloyd's Register the 'Tancred' is listed as being a wooden barque of 473 tons, built in 1872 by O P Olsen of Arendal, Norway.

Inscriptions: Photographer's title on negative - bottom left - "Tancrede."
