Shows a panorama looking north and south from the mouth of the Hokitika River with shipwrecks near the bar to the right, the river winding inland to the left, the town and wharves to the far left and the Southern Alps in the background. Many peaks are identified, including, from left, North Range Kanieri, South Range Kanieri, Browning Pass, Mount Cook, Mount Stokes, Mount Hooker
