Description

Shows conical military tents in the foreground and Marsland Stockade on the central hill in the middle distance, with a flag flying. To the right are St Mary's Church and several houses.

On the verso is glued part of the catalogue for 'Sixteenth competitive exhibition, the National Gallery, North Terrace, Adelaide, 28th December 1883' with a list of the first 26 paintings awarded a prize. It is inscribed in pencil 'Gold Papers'
