Inscriptions: Hyde. 22 June. 1894; To A Fraser Esq; Inspector. of. Works. [unreadable]; Sir, We the undersigned past and present Co-operative workmen, also the wives and children of the workers located in the vicinity of the Otago Central Railway Works would consider it an act of ingratitude were we to allow you to pass from our midst without showing you some humble testimony of your gentlemanly, generous & humane actions towards us during your Inspectorship in the construction of the Middlemarch - Hyde section of the Otago Central Railway, and hope that this address will tend to impress you that though you are not present in person with us on the Works, you are so in spirit.
