Description

Deputy City Engineer Mr F B C Jeffreys, City Engineer Mr K E Luke, Councillor L T Jacobsen and the Mayor Sir William Appleton watch a drilling expert assemble the equipment to drill test bores in the playing fields of Rongotai College. These are to determine the quality of the soil before construction of a subway under the future airstrip of the airport at Rongotai. Photograph taken 19 July 1950 by an Evening Post staff photographer.
