Includes descriptions of rigging for ships and canoes, sketches, vocabulary notes on Australian language and notes on painting technique. Journal kept aboard HMS Meander includes descriptions of Norfolk Island, Port Nicholson May 1850 with descriptions of watering facilities at Auckland and Bay of Islands. Sketches 1849-1853 include Bay of Islands. Sketches in the South seas, includes views of New Zealand.
