Scenes in Italy and the south of France, including the artist's written itinerary, from April 15 to May 19, 1888. The first view is of Cannes, then 4 of Menton, Monaco from Monte Carlo, local vegetation, 3 of Genoa, 2 of Certose (Tuscany), the Pitti Palace in Florence, the Ponte Vecchio, with a photograph of the same, Vallombrosa, Burano, Murano, 2 of the Grand Canal at Venice, 2 of Lugano, one of Heidelberg castle, and of of ?Heidelberg city from the castle (or possibly Strassburg)
Inscriptions: Inside front cover: K. W. Cookson crossed out; the artist's name and address (14 Eastcourt Villas, Blackheath); next two pages: notes of itinerary, and colours used; next page, diary notes about the beginning of the trip; pages numbered by the Library up to 48 follow, each with pencil and watercolour
