A doll with china head and arms, blond hair, and a yellow skirt made from wide ribbon and lined with flannel suitable for use as a needle-holder. Inside a wooden box, lined with felt, with a glass lid
It was exhibited in 1988-1989 at the National Library in the exhibition "Hearts and minds", and exhibited at the Katherine Mansfield birthplace in March-April 1991, in the exhibition "Images of childhood".

Physical Description: Doll: china, ribbon and hair, total height 350 mm, in glazed "shadow box" 460 x 190 x 58 mm.
Provenance: The doll was made by Katherine Mansfield (Kathleen Beauchamp) at the age of 14, for her teacher Rebecca Howell, who shortly thereafter, in 1902, left New Zealand for the United States. Years later Rebecca Howell became the teacher of Emma Knox, to whom she gave the doll, sometime before September 1956. The doll later became the property of Wellington Girls' College.
