Twin screw steel steamer of 6563 tons, built in 1899 by W Denny & Bros., Dumbarton, Scotland, for the New Zealand Shipping Co. Destroyed by fire in the South Atlantic in 1926. Sister ship to the Papanui. See Ships with New Zealand Associations (Vol 3, p 37)
