- Description
Studio portrait of nine mainly unidentified Maori men in European dress, and two Europeans, five of them holding weapons, circa 1910. Three Koroua (aged Maori men) in the middle of the back row wear cloaks over European dress and hold taiaha. A European man in the middle of the front row (seated on chair) holds a tewhatewha, and the man seated on a fur rug on the floor in front holds a patu. The man standing on the far left of the middle row has been identified as Takarangi Metekingi, the man sitting on the far right of the middle row has been identified as Waata Hipango. Other - Four of these men (two in the back row, and two on the left in the middle row) are also shown in the image at 1/1-003126, amongst a group of six men.
