Shows a view of Milford Sound from the shore looking towards Mitre Peak. On a low spit in the foreground, two figures have anchored a small sailboat and are tending a campfire. A steam sails on the sound in the middle distance. The higher peaks are snow-capped, indicating a winter season. In the close foreground several seagulls stand on the shore or wheel above it.
The artist was probably resident in Auckland by 1905, the date at which this work was painted. He may have worked from a photograph of Milford Sound
