This cartoon shows a suburban street. A man is going off to work and another man is waiting for him on the footpath. The first man is wearing a mask made of a cardboard box, a bottle and other materials, and the second man looks rather surprised. The wife, in dressing gown, slippers and rollers, is talking to her neighbour over the fence, telling her that Humphrey is doing his bit to improve Wellington.
Exhibited in 'Lodge Laughs at Wellington: Celebrating the life and works of cartoonist Nevile Lodge' exhibition of cartoons By Nevile Lodge on Wellington topics over the period 1943-1988, curated by the New Zealand Cartoon Archive for the Wellington Museum of City and Sea, and exhibited at the Museum from 25 May to August 2004.
