Shows a kauri tree with historical facts recorded on the trunk, as well as in panels and tables surrounding it. Also shows maps of the North and South Islands, of Australasia and of the World. Includes small photographic inserts, the photographs covering the main centres in New Zealand, from each of the then existing provinces.
Inscriptions: Recto - beneath image - Designed and written with pen-and-ink by James McKain Meek aged 62 years at the Wai Wera hot springs New Zealand. Commenced writing Monday July 24th 1876. Finished Saturday Decr 30th, 1876.
