Copy of topographic manuscript map of Kapiti Island, with cadastral and Māori historical information. Shows several pā sites, including Wharekahu Bay Pa, Taepiro Stream Pa, 'Rangitira Point Pa'. Shows land subdivisions, such as Maraetakaroro Kapiti No. 2, subdn 2B and Waiorua Kapiti no. 5, subdn 1B. Identifies Māori place names, the residence of Te Rauparaha and 'Rangihaieta' (Te Rangihaeata), the residence of Mr A S Wilkinson, whaling stations on surrounding islands.
Beside the map are notes on early HMS ship visits to the island. Total area for the island is given as over 4855 acres.

It was formerly assumed that this map is a photocopy from the manuscript reproduced in 'The stirring times of Te Rauparaha (Chief of the Ngatitoa) / by W.T.L. Travers.
