Inscriptions: Recto - top left - A. Small outdoor bedrooms. 1 very lofty - Mr Tudor's, & Mr Philpotts. B. Great dirty lumber [?!] room over Hall (dining, not entrance). C. Roof of passage. D. My room. E. Chapel. F. Back kitchen. G. Cooking-hut. O. Entrance.
According to map, probably by Maria Nicholson, the house was in Grattan Street in The Wood area of Nelson city.
According to Shirley Tunnicliffe, Maria Nicholson lived with the Hobhouses from Easter to June 1860.
