John Golder was the son of William and Mary Golder, Hutt Valley resident and in charge of road construction for Hutt County Council. Description: Comprises William Golder's diary, 1873 (volume one) and John Golder's diaries, ca 1874-Feb 1891 (volume two); Mar 1891-Aug 1894 (volume three); Sep 1894-Jul 1898 (volume four) and Jul 1898-Jul 1900 (volume five). William Golder was born in Paisley, Scotland, in 1810 and became a weaver. He and his wife Mary emigrated to New Zealand on the \"Bengal Merchant\" which left Glasgow in Oct 1839 and they settled in the Hutt Valley. Mary Golder died in 1868 and William Golder returned to Scotland in Feb 1876 and died in Jun 1876. John Golder was the son of William and Mary Golder and for a long period was in charge of roading for Hutt County Council. Quantity: 1 microfilm reel(s) positive (685 frames).
