Suspended flume under construction between the main land and Seal Island, just offshore from the mouth of the Fox River, Buller district, West Coast. It will enable coal to be sent to the island where it will be later picked up by ships. Photograph taken circa 1925-1941 by Lawrence Andrew Inkster.

Inscriptions: Verso - Fluming Coal from main land to Seal Island at Fox River (Greymouth). When fluming is completed the coal will be flumed to Island into [bins?] where ships will enter and [lode?] it away; Verso - bottom right - stamped in ink - Copyright by L A Inkster Greymouth
