Description

A pamphlet advertising the acts of Willy Mirano, directed by his brother Oscar Mirano, with aviator M Dematri, pilot M Dematro, mechanic Arturo Romani. Mirano's aeroplane was an Austin, supplied through Dexter Motors Ltd, Auckland. The Flying Torpedo act involved a huge scale replica of the Eiffel Tower. Looping the loop involved astounding feats with a trapeze or swing (diagram shown).

The front cover shows portraits of two men, probably the aviator Willy Mirano and one of his three colleagues. The inside spread shows a balanced arm on top of the Eiffel Tower, with wingless propeller craft at one end and a human aerialist ("The Flying Torpedo") at the other. The back cover shows a diagram of a feat on a high perch.

Date 1924 confirmed by researcher Sheila Salo (USA) by email, August 2012.
