- Description
Two views of Hawera, one of High Street, and one of the courthouse. The Egmont Hotel is partially visible in the left foreground in High Street, and the business premises of F H Boase is visible in the centre. Photograph taken ca 1907-1912 by William Archer Price of Auckland. Greetings card with the two images separated by Christmas greetings, illustrated with a drawing of a pohutukawa flower.
Other - The copyright date is part of the greetings card, but it is possible the image might have been taken between 1910 and 1912. See Wise's Post Office Directory from 1907 onwards, in which Frank Henry Boase (bookseller) and Christopher Cane (hairdresser & tobacconist) had premises in High Street at the same time only between 1910 and 1912. Christopher Cane's premises are not clear in this image, but it appears to have been taken about the same time as the image at 1/2-000967.
