Monochrome watercolour shows a view along a broad roadway with a row of single and double-storeyed houses on the far side, and in the distance on the extreme right, a flag flying from a high flagpole. The two closest houses at the left have a picket fence in front of them.
The location is a view looking south from St Pauls Church in Emily Place, up Princes Street.
