Inscriptions: Verso - top centre - Photos of Historical Interest; Verso - centre - Print 1. The memorial created to those who fell during three engagements in the Maori War. This memorial is to be seen at the little-known Waihi Cemetery at Normanby, South Taranaki. The cemetery is laid out on the side of a hill, known as the "Waihi Redoubt". Near the summit, the hill is very strongly entrenched, the trenches, 10 to 12 ft deep, being in a perfect state of preservation.
