Watercolour shows a view of the Opunake Redoubt, based on a component of the illustrated page by George Sherriff, in the "Graphic" (London), 8th April 1882, page 340. The photograph shows Government House in Parliament Grounds, and St Mary's Cathedral Hill Street with its steeple (destroyed by fire in 1898).
