Description

Full length side profile study of a woman in the regional costume of Saint-Lo in north-west France. She is wearing an ankle length empire line red dress with tight fitting long sleeves. Over her shoulders is a plaid shawl in white with red/yellow plaid design. Around her neck she is wearing a crucifix. Her headgear is white, cone-shaped and pleated at the back, and edged with white lace. There is a coloured ribbon around the crown which is gathering the material in and holding it in place.
